The 3M™ cloth belt 361F measures 6" x 60" and features P180 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains fastened to a heavy polyester cloth backing. It includes durable, heat-resistant resin bonding that supports both wet and dry applications. For grades of P100 and lower, the belt uses YF-weight polyester backing, while grades higher than P100 are backed with slightly less stiff XF-weight polyester. The aluminum oxide mineral is widely favored in industrial settings due to its cutting efficiency, durability, and long life, suitable for a variety of materials in woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. The abrasive particles are firmly adhered with resin to withstand high heat and pressure. These abrasive belts are available in multiple widths and lengths designed for various belt sanding tools used in metalworking. Wider belts are suitable for wide belt sanders for flat finishing and smoothing rough metal sheet edges or adding grain patterns to stainless steel sheets. Medium-width belts are typically used on backstands for weld removal or feed-thru flat finishers to impart finishes on sheets or coils. Narrow belts are used on backstands for grinding and finishing or on file tools for finishing right-angle corners. The primary applications of this belt are in metalworking.
