The 3M™ cloth belt 341D 36" x 75" 80 grit aluminum oxide is a durable abrasive belt designed for metal deburring, general metalworking, and some woodworking applications. It is suitable for use with wide belt sanders, edge sanders, or portable belt sanders and can be applied to a variety of metal substrates and wood surfaces. The belt features fast-cutting aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing, providing continuous cut and long-life performance for more aggressive dry sanding tasks. Its closed coat construction ensures a consistent, fine finish and is ideal for producing grain patterns on metal. The belt should not be run wet. The aluminum oxide mineral used is known for its cutting rate, durability, and longevity, and is effective on ferrous alloys and other materials in both woodworking and metalworking. Abrasive particles are bonded strongly to the cloth backing with resin to withstand high heat and pressure. Available in various widths and lengths, these belts accommodate different belt sanding tools and applications, with wider belts used for dimensioning or finishing wood panels and smoothing metal sheet edges, medium-width belts for sanding flat, narrow surfaces like panel edges, and narrow belts for portable sanders to sand or blend smaller wood pieces such as cabinet doors. The belts come with different splices to join belt ends, including film media splice for a secure bond that minimizes chatter marks and ensures smooth operation.
