The 3M™ Cloth Belt 341D measures 2" x 72" and features P400 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing, providing fast-cutting and long-life performance for aggressive dry sanding applications. It is designed for finishing on metal with a closed coat construction that offers a consistent, fine finish and is suitable for producing a grain pattern; this belt should not be run wet. The aluminum oxide mineral is favored in industrial settings for its cut-rate, durability, and versatility on various materials including ferrous alloys in both woodworking and metalworking. The abrasive particles are bonded with resin to withstand high heat and pressure. These belts come in various widths and lengths to fit different belt sanding tools, with wide belts for dimensioning or finishing wood panels and smoothing metal sheets, medium-width belts for edge sanders on flat, narrow surfaces, and narrow belts for portable belt sanders used on smaller wood pieces. Different splice types are available, including film media splices that use joining film to minimize chatter marks and sine wave splices constructed of interlocking fingers that allow smooth travel over contact wheels, reduce hinging, and enhance joint strength.
