The 3M™ Cloth Belt 341D measures 1" x 42" and features P120 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing, providing continuous cut and long-life performance for aggressive dry sanding applications. It is designed for metal finishing with a closed coat construction that delivers a consistent, fine finish suitable for producing a grain pattern, but it should not be run wet. The aluminum oxide mineral is known for its cut-rate, durability, and long life, making it suitable for a variety of woodworking and metalworking materials, including ferrous alloys. The abrasive particles are adhered to the cloth backing with resin, creating a strong bond that withstands high heat and pressure. The belts are available in various widths and lengths to fit most industrial belt sanders: wider belts for wide belt sanders to dimension or finish wood panels and metal sheets, medium-width belts for edge sanders to sand flat, narrow surfaces such as panel edges, and narrow belts for portable belt sanders for sanding or blending wood pieces like cabinet doors. Different splices join the belt ends, including film media splices that use a joining film to minimize chatter marks, ensure smooth belt running, and produce consistent finishing results, and sine wave splices made of interlocking fingers that allow smooth travel over contact wheels, reduce hinging, and strengthen the joint area, typically used for coarser grits.
