The 3M™ Cloth Belt 341D measures 1-1/2" x 60" and features 80 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing, providing continuous cut and long-life performance suited for aggressive dry sanding applications. It is designed for metal finishing with a closed coat construction that offers a consistent, fine finish and is suitable for producing a grain pattern; the belt should not be run wet. The aluminum oxide mineral is favored for its cut rate, durability, and long life, capable of use on a wide variety of materials including ferrous alloys in woodworking and metalworking. The abrasive particles are bonded with resin to withstand high heat and pressure. These abrasive belts are available in various widths and lengths for use with a range of belt sanding tools on wood and metal. Wide belts fit wide belt sanders for dimensioning or finishing wood panels, smoothing rough-cut metal edges, or adding grain patterns to stainless steel sheets. Medium-width belts are for edge sanders that sand flat, narrow surfaces such as panel edges, while narrow belts suit portable belt sanders for sanding or blending wood pieces like cabinet doors. Belts incorporate different splices to join the belt ends, including film media splices that minimize chatter marks and produce smooth, consistent finishes and sine wave splices with interlocking fingers for smooth travel over contact wheels, reduced hinging, and added strength; sine wave splices are typically used for coarser applications. The product includes a warranty covering manufacturing defects under normal use conditions.
