The 3M™ Cloth Belt 341D is a 9" x 20" abrasive belt featuring 40 grit aluminum oxide grains resin-bonded to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing, designed for fast cutting and long-life performance in aggressive dry sanding applications. Its closed coat construction provides a consistent fine finish suitable for metal finishing and producing grain patterns. The belt is intended for dry use only and should not be run wet. Aluminum oxide abrasive mineral offers high cut rate, durability, and longevity and is effective on various materials including ferrous alloys in both woodworking and metalworking. The abrasive particles are bonded to the cloth backing with resin to withstand high heat and pressure. The belt is compatible with multiple belt sanding tools and comes in various widths and lengths to suit applications from dimensioning and finishing wood panels on wide belt sanders, smoothing metal sheet edges, to sanding narrow panel edges on edge sanders and blending wood pieces on portable sanders. The belts include different splice options: film media splices that use a joining film to minimize chatter marks and ensure smooth operation and consistent finish, and sine wave splices constructed of interlocking fingers for smooth travel over contact wheels, reduced hinging, and increased joint strength, commonly used with coarser grits.
