The 3M™ cloth belt 341D measures 4" x 36" and features 80 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable x-weight cotton cloth backing, providing continuous cut and long-life performance for aggressive dry sanding applications. It is designed for finishing on metal with a closed coat construction that offers a consistent, fine finish suitable for producing a grain pattern. This belt is intended for dry use only and should not be run wet. Aluminum oxide mineral is widely used for its cut rate, durability, and long life on a variety of materials including ferrous alloys, making it a common industrial abrasive. The resin bond securely adheres the abrasive particles to the cloth backing, allowing the belt to withstand high heat and pressure. Available in various widths and lengths, belts like this one fit different belt sanding tools to accommodate numerous woodworking and metalworking applications. Wider belts suit wide belt sanders for dimensioning or finishing wood panels and smoothing rough metal edges, medium-width belts fit edge sanders for flat, narrow surfaces like panel edges, and narrow belts are used with portable belt sanders for sanding or blending wood pieces such as cabinet doors. Belt splices include film media splices which use a joining film to minimize chatter marks and ensure smooth running for consistent finishing, as well as sine wave splices constructed of interlocking fingers that reduce hinging, travel smoothly over contact wheels, and provide added joint strength.
