The 3M™ cloth belt 341D 4" x 36" P120 grit aluminum oxide features fast-cutting aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing, providing continuous cut and long-life performance for more aggressive dry sanding applications. It is designed for finishing on metal with a closed coat construction that offers a consistent, fine finish suitable for producing a grain pattern and should not be run wet. The aluminum oxide mineral is known for its cut rate, durability, and long life, making it ideal for various materials in woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. The abrasive particles are adhered to the cloth backing with resin, ensuring a strong bond capable of withstanding high heat and pressure. The belts come in different widths and lengths to fit various belt sanding tools, with wide belts for wide belt sanders used to dimension or finish wood panels and smooth rough-cut metal edges, medium-width belts for edge sanders on flat, narrow surfaces like panel edges, and narrow belts for portable belt sanders to sand or blend wood pieces such as cabinet doors. Belt splices include film media splices that create a secure bond using a joining film to minimize chatter marks and ensure smooth running and consistent finishing, and sine wave splices made of interlocking fingers that travel smoothly over contact wheels, reduce hinging, and provide additional strength to the joint area.
