The 3M™ Cloth Belt 341D measures 19" x 48" and features 60 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing, designed for metal deburring, general metalworking, and some woodworking applications. It is suitable for wide belt, edge, or portable belt sanding on metal substrates and wood, providing continuous cut and long-life performance necessary for aggressive dry sanding applications. The belt has a closed coat construction for finishing on metal, offering a consistent, fine finish suitable for producing a grain pattern and should not be used wet. The aluminum oxide mineral is bonded with resin to withstand high heat and pressure, making it popular for its cut rate, durability, and long life on a wide variety of materials including ferrous alloys. Abrasive belts vary in width and length to fit different belt sanding tools for various applications; wider belts are used for dimensioning or finishing wood panels and smoothing rough metal edges, medium-width belts fit edge sanders for sanding narrow surfaces, and narrow belts are for portable sanders to sand or blend wood pieces. The belt includes splices that join the belt ends securely with film media splices that minimize chatter marks and ensure a smooth operation.
