The 3M™ Cloth Belt 341D measures 3" x 24" and features P120 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing, delivering fast-cutting performance and long life suitable for aggressive dry sanding applications. Designed for finishing on metal, its closed coat construction ensures a consistent, fine finish and is ideal for producing a grain pattern; however, this belt should not be used wet. The aluminum oxide mineral provides excellent cut-rate, durability, and longevity, functioning effectively on various materials including ferrous alloys in both woodworking and metalworking. The abrasive particles are bonded with resin to withstand high heat and pressure. These abrasive belts come in multiple widths and lengths to fit a variety of industrial belt sanders, with wider belts suited for wide belt sanders to dimension or finish wood panels, smooth rough metal edges, or create grain patterns on stainless steel, medium widths used on edge sanders for sanding flat or narrow surfaces such as panel edges, and narrow belts designed for portable belt sanders for sanding or blending smaller wood pieces like cabinet doors. Belt splices vary, with film media splices providing a secure bond with joining film that reduces chatter marks for smooth belt running and consistent finishes, while sine wave splices use interlocking fingers to allow smooth travel over contact wheels, minimize hinging, and strengthen the joint area, typically used for coarser grits.
