The 3M™ Cloth Belt 341D measures 3" x 72" and features 60 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing, providing fast-cutting, continuous cut, and long-life performance for aggressive dry sanding applications. It is designed for finishing on metal with a closed coat construction that offers a consistent, fine finish and is suitable for producing a grain pattern, but it should not be used wet. The aluminum oxide mineral is well-regarded for its cut-rate, durability, and long life, making it suitable for a wide variety of materials including ferrous alloys in both woodworking and metalworking. The abrasive particles are adhered with a resin bond that withstands high heat and pressure. These belts come in various widths and lengths suitable for different belt sanding tools, with wider belts used on wide belt sanders for dimensioning or finishing wood panels and metal sheets, medium-width belts for edge sanders on flat, narrow surfaces, and narrow belts for portable belt sanders on smaller wood pieces like cabinet doors. The belts include various splice options to join ends securely, including film media splices that minimize chatter marks and ensure smooth running, and sine wave splices with interlocking fingers that provide added joint strength and smooth movement over contact wheels.
