The 3M™ cloth belt 361F measures 1" x 42" and features P220 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains bonded to a heavy polyester cloth backing. It has a durable, heat-resistant resin bond suitable for both wet and dry applications. Belts with grades of P100 and lower use YF-weight polyester backing, while higher grades use slightly less stiff XF-weight polyester backing. The aluminum oxide mineral is known for its fast cutting, durability, and long life, making it suitable for use on a wide variety of materials including ferrous alloys in woodworking and metalworking. The abrasive particles are securely bonded with resin to withstand high heat and pressure. These abrasive belts come in various widths and lengths to fit different industrial belt sanding tools. Wider belts are intended for wide belt sanders to finish flat surfaces, smooth rough-cut metal edges, or add grain patterns to stainless steel sheets. Medium-width belts are typically used on backstands for weld removal or feed-thru flat finishers for sheet or coil finishing. Narrow belts are used on backstands for grinding and finishing or on file tools for right angle corner finishing. This product is primarily designed for metalworking applications.
