The 3M™ cloth belt 341D measures 6" x 107" and features P120 grit aluminum oxide fast-cutting abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing, delivering continuous cut and long-life performance for aggressive dry sanding applications. Designed for finishing metal, the closed coat construction provides a consistent, fine finish suitable for producing a grain pattern and is not intended for wet use. The aluminum oxide mineral is widely used in industrial settings due to its cut-rate, durability, and long life, functioning effectively on various materials including ferrous alloys. The abrasive particles are bonded with resin to withstand high heat and pressure. These belts are available in many widths and lengths for use with various belt sanding tools in woodworking and metalworking. Wider belts suit wide belt sanders for dimensioning or finishing wood panels, smoothing rough metal edges, or adding grain patterns to stainless steel, while medium-width belts fit edge sanders for flat, narrow surfaces such as panel edges, and narrow belts are compatible with portable belt sanders for sanding or blending wood components like cabinet doors. Belt ends are joined with different splices; a film media splice uses a joining film that minimizes chatter marks and ensures smooth running and consistent results, while a sine wave splice features interlocking fingers to travel smoothly over contact wheels, reduce hinging, and strengthen the joint, typically employed for coarser applications.
