The 3M™ cloth belt 341D measures 6" x 48" and features P120 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to durable X-weight cotton cloth backing, designed for continuous cutting and long-life performance in aggressive dry sanding applications. It is intended for metal finishing, providing a consistent fine finish and suitable for producing a grain pattern with its closed coat construction, but should not be run wet. The aluminum oxide mineral is widely used in industrial settings for its cut-rate, durability, and long life across a variety of materials including woodworking, metalworking, and ferrous alloys. The abrasive particles are bonded with resin to the cloth backing, ensuring high heat and pressure resistance. Abrasive belts are available in multiple widths and lengths, compatible with various sanding tools; wider belts suit wide belt sanders for dimensioning or finishing wood panels and metal sheets, medium-width belts fit edge sanders for sanding flat or narrow surfaces, and narrow belts are used with portable belt sanders for tasks such as sanding or blending wooden pieces. Belt splices include film media splices, providing secure bonds with minimal chatter marks for smooth operation and consistent finish, as well as sine wave splices constructed with interlocking fingers to reduce hinging and enhance joint strength, especially for coarser grits.
