The 3M™ Cloth Belt 340D measures 52" x 103" and features P120 grit aluminum oxide, designed as an open coat premium grade abrasive belt for aggressive stock removal and resistance to loading, suitable for sanding wood and metal. It is recommended for wide belt sanding, edge sanding, or portable belt sanding applications. The belt consists of fast-cutting aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable cotton cloth backing, providing continuous cut and long life. Its open coat and load-resistant coating make it effective for sanding soft woods, and the washable backing supports use in high production environments where resin or pitch buildup removal through washing is necessary. Aluminum oxide is a widely used industrial abrasive that bonds strongly via resin to the cloth backing, withstanding high heat and pressure, and is suitable for ferrous alloys and various materials in woodworking and metalworking. The belt's dimensions and grit size allow it to fit a range of industrial belt sanders, with wider belts intended for dimensioning or finishing wood panels, smoothing metal sheet edges, or adding grain patterns to stainless steel sheets; medium-width belts for sanding flat, narrow surfaces such as panel edges; and narrow belts for portable sander use on smaller wood pieces like cabinet doors.
