The 3M™ Cloth Belt 340D measures 52" x 103" and features P150 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable cotton cloth backing, designed for aggressive stock removal with durability and load resistance, making it suitable for applications on wood and metal such as wide belt sanding, edge sanding, and portable belt sanding. This open coat, premium grade aluminum oxide cloth belt offers continuous cut and long life, with a load-resistant coating that enhances performance on soft woods, and a washable backing suitable for high production environments to remove soft wood resin or pitch buildup. The aluminum oxide mineral provides fast cutting, durability, and long life, applicable to various materials including ferrous alloys, being a commonly used industrial abrasive that withstands high heat and pressure due to the strong resin bond. Abrasive belts come in multiple widths and lengths to fit different belt sanding tools: wide belts for wide belt sanders used to dimension or finish wood panels, smooth rough metal edges, or add grain patterns to stainless steel; medium-width belts for edge sanders sanding flat, narrow surfaces such as panel edges; and narrow belts for portable sanders used for sanding or blending wood pieces like cabinet doors. Belt ends join via various splices, with a film media splice achieving a secure bond through a joining film that minimizes chatter marks, ensuring smooth operation and durability.
