The 3M™ cloth belt 340D 52" x 75" P120 grit aluminum oxide is an open coat, premium grade aluminum oxide cloth belt designed for durability and aggressive stock removal, suitable for applications on both wood and metal. It is recommended for wide belt sanding, edge sanding, or portable belt sanding. The belt features fast-cutting aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable cotton cloth backing, providing continuous cut and long life. The open coat and load-resistant coating make it particularly effective for sanding soft woods, and the washable backing supports high production environments where periodic washing is required to remove soft wood resin or pitch buildup. The aluminum oxide mineral is adhered to the cloth backing with resin, creating a strong bond resistant to high heat and pressure. Available in various widths and lengths, the belts can be used on a range of belt sanding tools for dimensioning, finishing, smoothing edges, or adding grain patterns to wood and metal surfaces, including ferrous alloys. The belt comes with various splice options, including a film media splice that secures the joined ends with a joining film to minimize chatter marks and ensure a smooth operation.
