3M™ cloth belt 341D measures 2" x 60" and features 40 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable x-weight cotton cloth backing, designed for continuous cut and long-life performance in more aggressive dry sanding applications. It is intended for finishing on metal with a closed coat construction that provides a consistent, fine finish and is suitable for producing a grain pattern; the belt should not be used wet. Aluminum oxide mineral offers a high cut rate, durability, and long life, applicable to a wide variety of materials in woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. The abrasive particles are adhered to the cloth backing with a resin bond that withstands high heat and pressure. These abrasive belts come in different widths and lengths to fit various belt sanding tools for wood and metal tasks: wider belts suit wide belt sanders for dimensioning or finishing wood panels, smoothing rough metal edges, or adding grain patterns to stainless steel; medium-width belts fit edge sanders for flat, narrow surfaces like panel edges; and narrow belts are compatible with portable belt sanders for sanding or blending smaller wood pieces such as cabinet doors. Belt ends are joined with several splice types, including film media splice, which uses a joining film to minimize chatter marks and ensure smooth running and consistent finishing, or sine wave splice, made of interlocking fingers enabling smooth travel over contact wheels, reducing hinging and strengthening the joint. The product includes a warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship under normal use conditions.
