The 3M™ cloth belt 341D measures 2-1/2" x 60" and features P100 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing, delivering continuous cut and long-life performance for aggressive dry sanding applications. It is designed for finishing metal with a closed coat construction that provides a consistent, fine finish and is suitable for producing a grain pattern; it should not be run wet. The aluminum oxide mineral used is a popular industrial abrasive known for its cut-rate, durability, and long life, effective on woodworking and metalworking materials including ferrous alloys. The abrasive particles are strongly bonded to the cloth backing with resin, allowing resistance to high heat and pressure. This abrasive belt is compatible with a variety of belt sanding tools, available in multiple widths and lengths for applications ranging from wide belt sanders for dimensioning or finishing wood panels and smoothing metal sheet edges to medium-width belts for edge sanders and narrow belts for portable belt sanders used on wood pieces like cabinet doors. Belts incorporate various splice types including film media splices, which securely bond with joining film to minimize chatter marks and ensure smooth running belts with consistent finishing, and sine wave splices made of interlocking fingers that allow smooth travel over contact wheels, reduce hinging, and add joint strength.
