The 3M™ cloth belt 341D measures 2" x 132" and features 36 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing, providing continuous cut and long-life performance for more aggressive dry sanding applications. It is designed for finishing on metal with a closed coat construction that delivers a consistent, fine finish and is suitable for producing a grain pattern. This belt is not intended for wet use. The aluminum oxide mineral is widely used in industrial applications because of its high cut rate, durability, and long life, making it suitable for a variety of materials including ferrous alloys in woodworking and metalworking. The resin bond adheres the abrasive particles to the cloth backing, ensuring a strong bond capable of withstanding high heat and pressure. Abrasive belts are available in various widths and lengths designed to fit different belt sanding tools for applications on both wood and metal, with wider belts used on wide belt sanders for wood panel dimensioning or metal sheet finishing, medium-width belts for edge sanders to sand flat narrow surfaces, and narrow belts for portable sanders to blend wood pieces such as cabinet doors. Different splice types join belt ends, including film media splices that minimize chatter marks and sine wave splices with interlocking fingers for smooth travel over contact wheels and enhanced joint strength.
