The 3M™ cloth belt 341D 2" x 132" 60 grit aluminum oxide features fast-cutting aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable x-weight cotton cloth backing, providing continuous cut and long-life performance for more aggressive dry sanding applications. It is designed for finishing on metal with a closed coat construction that offers a consistent, fine finish suitable for producing a grain pattern and should not be run wet. The aluminum oxide mineral is widely used in industrial applications for its cut-rate, durability, and long life, applicable on various materials including ferrous alloys in woodworking and metalworking. The abrasive particles are attached to the cloth backing with resin, creating a strong bond that withstands high heat and pressure. Abrasive belts come in various widths and lengths to fit different belt sanding tools; wider belts are used on wide belt sanders for dimensioning or finishing wood panels and smoothing metal sheet edges, medium-width belts fit edge sanders for sanding flat, narrow surfaces such as panel edges, and narrow belts are compatible with portable belt sanders for sanding or blending wood pieces like cabinet doors.
