The 3M™ cloth belt 341D measures 2 inches by 132 inches and features P120 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing, delivering continuous cut and long-life performance for more aggressive dry sanding applications. It is designed for finishing on metal with a closed coat construction that offers a consistent, fine finish and is suitable for producing a grain pattern; this belt should not be run wet. The aluminum oxide mineral provides high cut-rate, durability, and long life, making it ideal for use on a wide variety of materials including ferrous alloys in both woodworking and metalworking. The abrasive particles are bonded with resin to the cloth backing, which withstands high heat and pressure. These abrasive belts come in various widths and lengths to fit diverse belt sanding tools; wider belts are suited for wide belt sanders on wood panels and metal sheets, medium-width belts fit edge sanders for flat, narrow surfaces such as panel edges, and narrow belts are used with portable belt sanders for sanding or blending wood pieces like cabinet doors. Belt splices, including film media splices that use a joining film for a secure bond minimizing chatter marks, and sine wave splices constructed of interlocking fingers for smooth travel over contact wheels with reduced hinging and added strength, enhance the belt's performance.
