The 3M™ cloth belt 361F measures 1" x 90" with P220 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains bonded to a heavy polyester cloth backing. The abrasive features fast-cutting aluminum oxide mineral adhered with a durable, heat-resistant resin that supports both wet and dry applications. Grades P100 and lower use YF-weight polyester backing, while grades higher than P100 use slightly less stiff XF-weight polyester. Aluminum oxide is widely used for its cut rate, durability, and long life, suitable for woodworking and metalworking applications including ferrous alloys. The abrasive particles are strongly bonded to the cloth backing to withstand high heat and pressure. These abrasive belts come in various widths and lengths compatible with different belt sanding tools for metalworking purposes. Wider belts suit wide belt sanders for flat finishing, smoothing rough metal edges, or adding grain patterns to stainless steel sheets. Medium-width belts are used on backstands for weld removal or feed-thru flat finishers for sheet or coil finishing, while narrow belts serve backstands and file tools for grinding and finishing in right-angle corners.
