The 3M™ Cloth Belt 341D measures 4 inches by 54 inches and features 36 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing, providing continuous cut and long-life performance for aggressive dry sanding applications. It is designed for finishing on metal with a closed coat construction that delivers a consistent, fine finish suitable for producing grain patterns, and it should not be run wet. The aluminum oxide mineral is widely used in industrial applications for its cut rate, durability, and long life, effective on a variety of materials including ferrous alloys in both woodworking and metalworking. The abrasive particles are securely bonded to the cloth backing with resin, enabling the belt to withstand high heat and pressure. This belt type is available in various widths and lengths to fit multiple belt sanding tools; wider belts are used on wide belt sanders for dimensioning or finishing wood panels and smoothing metal edges, medium-width belts fit edge sanders for sanding flat, narrow surfaces, and narrow belts are compatible with portable belt sanders for blending and sanding wood pieces such as cabinet doors. The belts come with different splice options including film media splices for secure bonding and minimal chatter marks and sine wave splices with interlocking fingers that reduce hinging and add joint strength, typically used for coarser grit belts.
