The 3M™ Cloth Belt 341D measures 3 inches by 132 inches and features P180 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing, providing continuous cut and long-life performance necessary for more aggressive dry sanding applications. It is designed for finishing on metal with a closed coat construction that offers a consistent, fine finish suitable for producing a grain pattern. This belt is intended for dry use only and should not be run wet. The aluminum oxide mineral provides high cut-rate, durability, and long life and is commonly used on various materials in woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. The abrasive particles adhere to the cloth backing with resin to create a strong bond that withstands high heat and pressure. The belts come in various widths and lengths to fit a range of industrial belt sanders, from wide belts for dimensioning and finishing wood panels or metal sheets to medium widths for edge sanders and narrow belts for portable sanders used on cabinet doors or similar woodworking pieces. Belt splices include film media splices that use a joining film to minimize chatter marks and ensure smooth running, and sine wave splices constructed of interlocking fingers for smooth travel over contact wheels, reduced hinging, and added joint strength; sine wave splices are commonly used for coarser applications.
