The 3M™ cloth belt 361F measures 4 inches by 90 inches and features P180 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains bonded to a heavy polyester cloth backing. It uses a durable, heat-resistant resin that supports both wet and dry applications. Grades of P100 and lower are backed with YF-weight polyester, while grades higher than P100 use the slightly less stiff XF-weight polyester backing. The aluminum oxide mineral provides fast cutting, durability, and long life, making it suitable for a wide variety of materials in woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. The abrasive particles are strongly bonded to the cloth backing with resin, enabling the belt to withstand high heat and pressure. The belts come in various widths and lengths to fit most industrial belt sanders, with wider belts suited for wide belt sanders used in flat finishing and smoothing rough cut edges of metal sheets or adding grain patterns to stainless steel sheets. Medium-width belts are typically used on backstands for weld removal or on feed-thru flat finishers for finishing sheets or coils, while narrow belts are designed for grinding, finishing on backstands, or finishing right-angle corners using file tools. The primary application for this product is metalworking.
