The 3M™ cloth belt 361F 4" x 132" P180 grit aluminum oxide features fast-cutting aluminum oxide abrasive grains bonded to a heavy polyester cloth backing, with a durable, heat-resistant resin that supports both wet and dry applications. Grades of P100 and lower use YF-weight polyester backing, while grades higher than P100 use XF-weight polyester backing, which is slightly less stiff. The aluminum oxide mineral is favored in industrial settings due to its cutting rate, durability, and long life, suitable for a wide variety of materials in woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. The abrasive particles are adhered to the cloth backing with resin, creating a strong bond that withstands high heat and pressure. These abrasive belts come in various widths and lengths for use on different belt sanding tools and metalworking applications; wider belts fit wide belt sanders for flat finishing and smoothing rough metal sheet edges or adding grain patterns to stainless steel sheets, medium-width belts are used on backstands for weld removal or feed-thru flat finishers for finishing sheets or coils, and narrow belts are intended for backstands or file tools for grinding and finishing corners at right angles.
