The 3M™ cloth belt 341D measures 6" x 202" and features 80 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing, providing continuous cut and long-life performance for aggressive dry sanding applications. It is designed for finishing on metal with a closed coat construction that offers a consistent fine finish and is suitable for producing a grain pattern, but it should not be used wet. The aluminum oxide mineral is known for its cut rate, durability, and long life, making it ideal for use on a variety of materials in woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. The abrasive grains are bonded with resin, creating a strong adhesive that withstands high heat and pressure. The belts come in various widths and lengths to fit multiple belt sanding tools for different applications on wood and metal. Wider belts are intended for wide belt sanders to dimension or finish wood panels, smooth rough-cut metal sheet edges, or add grain patterns to stainless steel sheets; medium-width belts fit edge sanders for flat, narrow surfaces such as panel edges; narrow belts are for portable belt sanders for sanding or blending wood pieces like cabinet doors. Belt splices include a film media splice that uses a joining film to minimize chatter marks and ensure smooth running belts with consistent finishing, and a sine wave splice made of interlocking fingers that travel smoothly over contact wheels, reduce hinging, and provide increased strength at the joint area.
