The 3M™ Cloth Belt 341D measures 6 inches by 79 inches and features 60 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable x-weight cotton cloth backing, providing continuous cut and long-life performance for more aggressive dry sanding applications. It is designed for finishing on metal with its closed coat construction, delivering a consistent, fine finish and suitable for producing a grain pattern. This belt is not intended for wet use. The aluminum oxide mineral is a durable and long-lasting abrasive, suitable for a variety of materials in woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. The abrasive particles are adhered with resin, creating a strong bond that withstands high heat and pressure. Abrasive belts come in various widths and lengths for use with different belt sanding tools across numerous applications on wood and metal, with wider belts designed for wide belt sanders to dimension or finish wood panels and smooth rough metal edges, medium-width belts for edge sanders on flat narrow surfaces like panel edges, and narrow belts for portable belt sanders to sand or blend wood pieces such as cabinet doors. Belt splices include film media splices that secure the belt ends with a joining film to minimize chatter marks and provide smooth running and consistent finishing, as well as sine wave splices consisting of interlocking fingers that enable smooth travel over contact wheels, reduce hinging, and strengthen the joint area.
