The 3M™ Cloth Belt 341D measures 8 inches by 107 inches and features 40 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing, providing continuous cut and long-life performance for more aggressive dry sanding applications. It is designed for finishing on metal with a closed coat construction that offers a consistent, fine finish suitable for producing a grain pattern and should not be run wet. Aluminum oxide is a popular abrasive mineral known for its cut-rate, durability, and long life, commonly used on a variety of materials including ferrous alloys in both woodworking and metalworking. The abrasive particles are adhered with resin to withstand high heat and pressure. These abrasive belts come in various widths and lengths to fit industrial belt sanding tools, where wider belts are used with wide belt sanders for dimensioning or finishing wood panels and smoothing metal edges, medium-width belts fit edge sanders for flat, narrow surfaces like panel edges, and narrower belts are suited for portable belt sanders used for sanding or blending wood pieces such as cabinet doors.
