The 3M™ Cloth Belt 361F 4" x 168" P240 grit aluminum oxide features fast-cutting aluminum oxide abrasive grains bonded to a heavy polyester cloth backing, with a durable, heat-resistant resin that supports both wet and dry applications. Grades of P100 and lower use YF-weight polyester backing, while grades higher than P100 use slightly less stiff XF-weight polyester backing. Aluminum oxide mineral is chosen for its cutting rate, durability, and long life and is suitable for a wide variety of materials in woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. The abrasive particles are adhered to the cloth backing with resin, creating a strong bond that withstands high heat and pressure. Abrasive belts come in various widths and lengths for use on different belt sanding tools in metalworking, with wider belts designed for wide belt sanders to smooth flat metal sheets or add grain patterns, medium-width belts used on backstands or feed-thru finishers for weld removal or finishing sheets or coils, and narrow belts for backstands or file tools to finish right angle corners.
