The 3M™ Cloth Belt 341D measures 4" x 132" and features 36 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains bonded with resin to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing, designed to deliver continuous cut and long-life performance for more aggressive dry sanding applications. It is suitable for finishing on metal with a closed coat construction that offers a consistent, fine finish and the ability to produce a grain pattern, but it should not be used wet. The aluminum oxide mineral is prized for its cutting efficiency, durability, and versatility across woodworking and metalworking tasks, including use on ferrous alloys. The resin bond secures the abrasive particles to withstand high heat and pressure. These abrasive belts come in a variety of widths and lengths compatible with different belt sanding tools, covering applications from dimensioning or finishing wood panels with wide belts on wide belt sanders, to edge sanding flat, narrow surfaces with medium-width belts, and sanding or blending smaller wood pieces with narrow belts on portable sanders. Different splice types such as film media splice and sine wave splice join the belt ends; film media splices provide a secure bond with minimal chatter marks for smooth operation and consistent finishes, while sine wave splices use interlocking fingers to enhance joint strength and smooth travel over contact wheels, typically used for coarser grits.
