The 3M™ cloth belt 341D measures 2-1/2" x 60" with P180 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable x-weight cotton cloth backing, providing fast-cutting performance and long life for aggressive dry sanding applications. Designed for finishing on metal, its closed coat construction delivers a consistent, fine finish and is suitable for producing a grain pattern; it should not be used wet. The aluminum oxide mineral offers high cut-rate, durability, and versatility on various materials including ferrous alloys, making it a widely used industrial abrasive. The resin bond secures abrasive particles to the cloth backing, enabling the belt to withstand high heat and pressure. Abrasive belts come in various widths and lengths to fit different belt sanding tools for wood and metal applications, with wider belts used for dimensioning and finishing wood panels or smoothing metal sheet edges, medium widths for flat narrow surfaces, and narrow belts for portable sanders on smaller wood pieces. The belt features splices such as film media splices that provide a secure bond with minimal chatter marks for smooth running and consistent finish, and sine wave splices with interlocking fingers for smooth travel, reduced hinging, and strength—typically used for coarser grits.
