The 3M™ Cloth Belt 341D measures 2-1/2" x 60" and features P150 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing, providing continuous cut and long-life performance for aggressive dry sanding applications. It is designed primarily for finishing metal with a closed coat construction that delivers a consistent, fine finish and is suitable for producing a grain pattern; this belt should not be run wet. The aluminum oxide mineral is known for its cut rate, durability, and long life and is effective on a variety of materials including ferrous alloys in both woodworking and metalworking. The abrasive particles are securely adhered with resin to withstand high heat and pressure. The belts are available in various widths and lengths to fit different belt sanding tools used on wood and metal; wider belts are compatible with wide belt sanders for dimensioning or finishing wood panels and smoothing metal sheet edges, medium-width belts are suited for edge sanders for sanding flat, narrow surfaces like panel edges, and narrow belts fit portable belt sanders for sanding or blending wood pieces such as cabinet doors. Additionally, belts feature different splices for joining belt ends, including film media splices that provide secure bonding with a joining film to minimize chatter marks and ensure smooth operation, and sine wave splices constructed of interlocking fingers that allow smooth travel over contact wheels, reduce hinging, and add strength to the joint area.
