The 3M™ cloth belt 341D measures 2-1/2" x 72" with P120 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing, designed to deliver continuous cut and long-life performance for more aggressive dry sanding applications. It features a closed coat construction suitable for finishing on metal, providing a consistent, fine finish and producing a grain pattern, but it should not be used wet. Aluminum oxide mineral is known for its cut-rate, durability, and long life, making it popular for woodworking and metalworking on materials including ferrous alloys. The abrasive particles are resin bonded to withstand high heat and pressure. The belt is compatible with various sanding tools, including wide belt sanders for dimensioning or finishing wood panels and metal sheets, edge sanders for flat narrow surfaces such as panel edges, and portable belt sanders for sanding or blending wood pieces like cabinet doors. The belt includes splices that join the ends, with options like film media splice for a secure bond minimizing chatter marks and ensuring smooth running and sine wave splices made of interlocking fingers that allow smooth travel over contact wheels, reduce hinging, and provide added joint strength.
