The 3M™ cloth belt 341D measures 10" x 70-1/2" and features P120 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains that are resin-bonded to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing, providing continuous cut and long-life performance for more aggressive dry sanding applications. It is designed for finishing on metal with a closed coat construction that delivers a consistent, fine finish suitable for producing a grain pattern, but it should not be run wet. The aluminum oxide mineral is widely used in industrial settings due to its cut-rate, durability, and long lifespan, making it suitable for woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. The abrasive particles are securely adhered to the cloth backing with resin, creating a strong bond that withstands high heat and pressure. The belt is compatible with various belt sanding tools and comes in multiple widths and lengths: wider belts for wide belt sanders to dimension or finish wood panels and smooth metal edges, medium-width belts for edge sanders used on flat, narrow surfaces, and narrow belts for portable belt sanders for sanding or blending wood pieces such as cabinet doors. Various splicing options are available; the film media splice uses a joining film that minimizes chatter marks and ensures a smooth running belt with consistent finishing results, while the sine wave splice features interlocking fingers that allow smooth travel over contact wheels, reduce hinging, and provide added strength to the joint area.
