The 3M™ cloth belt 341D measures 10" x 70-1/2" with 50 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable x-weight cotton cloth backing, providing continuous cut and long-life performance for more aggressive dry sanding applications. It features closed coat construction suitable for finishing on metal with consistent, fine finishes and the ability to produce a grain pattern; this belt is not designed for wet use. Aluminum oxide mineral is a widely used abrasive known for its cut-rate, durability, and long life, effective on a wide variety of materials including ferrous alloys in woodworking and metalworking. The abrasive particles are bonded with resin to withstand high heat and pressure. This belt is compatible with a range of belt sanding tools and is available in various widths and lengths for applications such as dimensioning or finishing wood panels with wide belt sanders, sanding flat narrow surfaces with medium-width belts on edge sanders, and blending wood pieces using narrow belts on portable sanders. The belt ends join using splices such as a film media splice, which provides a secure bond with minimal chatter marks for smooth running and consistent finishes, or a sine wave splice made with interlocking fingers to enable smooth travel over contact wheels, reduce hinging, and increase joint strength, typically used for coarse applications.
