The 3M™ cloth belt 341D measures 2" x 132" and features P240 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains bonded with resin to a durable x-weight cotton cloth backing, offering continuous cut and long-life performance for aggressive dry sanding applications. It is designed for finishing on metal with a closed coat construction that delivers a consistent, fine finish and is suitable for producing a grain pattern. This belt is not intended for wet use. Aluminum oxide is a popular industrial abrasive due to its cut-rate, durability, and long life, applicable on a wide variety of materials including ferrous alloys in woodworking and metalworking. The resin bond adheres the abrasive particles securely to the cloth backing, resisting high heat and pressure. The belt is compatible with different belt sanding tools, ranging from wide belt sanders used for dimensioning or finishing wood panels and smoothing rough metal edges to edge sanders for sanding flat, narrow surfaces like panel edges, and narrow belts used with portable belt sanders for sanding or blending wood pieces such as cabinet doors. The belts feature various splice options including a film media splice for a secure bond with minimal chatter marks ensuring smooth running and consistent finishing, and a sine wave splice made of interlocking fingers that travel smoothly over contact wheels, reduce hinging, and strengthen the joint area.
