The 3M™ cloth belt 341D measures 2 inches by 132 inches and features P320 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing, designed to provide continuous cut and long-life performance for aggressive dry sanding applications. It is intended for finishing on metal with a closed coat construction that offers a consistent, fine finish and is suitable for producing a grain pattern; the belt should not be run wet. The aluminum oxide mineral abrasive is widely used in industrial settings for its cut-rate, durability, and long life, suitable for woodworking and metalworking on various materials including ferrous alloys. The abrasive particles are strongly bonded to the cloth backing with resin to withstand high heat and pressure. These abrasive belts come in different widths and lengths to fit a variety of belt sanding tools used on wood and metal; wider belts are for wide belt sanders to dimension or finish wood panels or smooth metal sheet edges, medium-width belts fit edge sanders for sanding flat, narrow surfaces such as panel edges, and narrow belts are used with portable belt sanders for sanding or blending wood pieces like cabinet doors.
