The 3M™ cloth belt 341D measuring 2" x 18-15/16" with 80 grit aluminum oxide features fast-cutting aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing, delivering continuous cut and long-life performance suitable for more aggressive dry sanding applications. Designed for metal finishing, its closed coat construction offers a consistent, fine finish and is effective in producing a grain pattern; this belt is not intended for wet use. The aluminum oxide mineral provides excellent cut rate, durability, and longevity, making it ideal for a broad range of materials in woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. The abrasive particles are bonded to the cloth with resin, ensuring a strong bond that withstands high heat and pressure. Available in various widths and lengths, these belts fit numerous belt sanding tools for applications on both wood and metal, with wider belts suited for wide belt sanders to dimension or finish wood panels and smooth metal sheet edges, medium widths for edge sanders to sand flat, narrow surfaces such as panel edges, and narrow belts for portable belt sanders used on smaller wood pieces like cabinet doors. The belts include different splice types where a film media splice secures the belt ends with a joining film that minimizes chatter marks and ensures smooth operation and consistent finishing results, while a sine wave splice consists of interlocking fingers that enable smooth travel over contact wheels, reduce hinging, and enhance joint strength.
