The 3M™ cloth belt 341D measures 2 inches by 18-15/16 inches and features P120 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing, providing continuous cut and long-life performance for aggressive dry sanding applications. It is designed for finishing on metal with a closed coat construction that delivers a consistent, fine finish and is suitable for producing a grain pattern. This belt is not intended for wet use. The aluminum oxide mineral is highly regarded for its cut rate, durability, and longevity, effective on various materials including ferrous alloys in woodworking and metalworking. Abrasive particles are bonded to the cloth backing with resin, ensuring resistance to high heat and pressure. Available in multiple widths and lengths, these belts accommodate various belt sanding tools; wider belts suit wide belt sanders for dimensioning or finishing wood panels and smoothing metal sheet edges, medium-width belts fit edge sanders for flat, narrow surfaces like panel edges, and narrow belts work with portable belt sanders for sanding or blending items such as cabinet doors. Belt splices include film media splices, which use a joining film to minimize chatter marks, stabilize running belts, and produce consistent finishes, and sine wave splices, which utilize interlocking fingers to travel smoothly over contact wheels, reduce hinging, and reinforce joint strength.
