The 3M™ Cloth Belt 341D measures 4" x 132" and features 80 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains that are resin-bonded to a durable x-weight cotton cloth backing, providing continuous cut and long-life performance for more aggressive dry sanding applications. It is designed for finishing on metal, where the closed coat construction offers a consistent, fine finish suitable for producing a grain pattern, and it should not be used wet. The aluminum oxide mineral is chosen for its cut-rate, durability, and longevity, making it suitable for a wide variety of materials in woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. The abrasive particles are bonded to the cloth backing with resin, creating a strong bond that resists high heat and pressure. These abrasive belts come in various widths and lengths to fit different belt sanding tools and applications on wood and metal; wider belts are used with wide belt sanders for dimensioning or finishing wood panels and smoothing metal edges, medium-width belts are for edge sanders on narrow surfaces like panel edges, and narrow belts fit portable belt sanders for sanding or blending wood pieces such as cabinet doors.
