The 3M™ cloth belt 341D measures 4" x 132" with P120 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable x-weight cotton cloth backing, designed for fast cutting and long-life performance in more aggressive dry sanding applications. It features a closed coat construction to provide a consistent, fine finish suitable for producing grain patterns on metal and should not be run wet. The aluminum oxide mineral offers high cut-rate, durability, and long life, making it suitable for use on a wide variety of materials including ferrous alloys in both woodworking and metalworking. The abrasive particles bonded with resin can withstand high heat and pressure. The belts come in various widths and lengths to fit different belt sanding tools; wider belts are intended for wide belt sanders to dimension or finish wood panels and smooth rough-cut edges of metal sheets, medium-width belts fit edge sanders for flat, narrow surfaces such as panel edges, and narrow belts are used with portable belt sanders for sanding or blending wood pieces like cabinet doors. These belts use different splice options including film media splices, which create a secure joint with minimal chatter marks and a smooth running belt for consistent finishing, and sine wave splices, constructed with interlocking fingers to travel smoothly over contact wheels, reduce hinging, and add strength to the joint area.
