The 3M™ cloth belt 341D measures 4" x 59-1/2" and features 40 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains that are resin-bonded to a durable x-weight cotton cloth backing, delivering continuous cut and long-life performance for aggressive dry sanding applications on metal. Its closed coat construction ensures a consistent, fine finish suitable for producing a grain pattern and must not be used wet. Aluminum oxide is chosen for its cut-rate, durability, and versatility on various materials including ferrous alloys in both woodworking and metalworking. The abrasive particles are strongly adhered to the cloth backing with resin to withstand high heat and pressure. These belts come in multiple widths and lengths to fit a broad range of industrial belt sanders, with wider belts used in wide belt sanders for dimensioning and finishing wood panels, smoothing metal sheet edges, or adding grain to stainless steel sheets; medium-width belts fit edge sanders for flat, narrow surfaces; and narrow belts are compatible with portable belt sanders for sanding or blending wood pieces such as cabinet doors. The belts also feature various splicing options including film media splices that provide secure bonds with joining film to minimize chatter marks and ensure smooth running belts, and sine wave splices made of interlocking fingers that reduce hinging, travel smoothly over contact wheels, and provide added joint strength, typically used for coarser applications. The product complies with relevant industry standards and comes with a warranty covering defects in material and workmanship.
