The 3M™ Cloth Belt 341D measures 4" x 60" and features a 36 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grain bonded with resin to a durable x-weight cotton cloth backing. This construction provides continuous cut and long-life performance suitable for aggressive dry sanding applications, particularly on metal, where its closed coat design delivers a consistent fine finish and is ideal for producing grain patterns. The belt is not intended for wet use. Aluminum oxide mineral, known for its cut rate, durability, and longevity, is widely used across woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. The abrasive particles are strongly bonded to the cloth backing to withstand high heat and pressure. Available in various widths and lengths, these belts fit a broad range of industrial belt sanders: wider belts are used with wide belt sanders for dimensioning or finishing wood panels, smoothing metal sheet edges, or adding grain patterns to stainless steel; medium-width belts fit edge sanders for sanding flat, narrow surfaces such as panel edges; and narrow belts are suitable for portable belt sanders for sanding or blending wood pieces like cabinet doors. The belts incorporate different splice types, including film media splices that provide secure bonds with joining films to minimize chatter marks and ensure smooth operation and consistent finishing, and sine wave splices made of interlocking fingers for smooth travel over contact wheels, reduced hinging, and strengthened joints, commonly used for coarser grits. Warranty terms are provided by 3M to cover manufacturing defects under standard conditions.
