The 3M™ Cloth Belt 341D measures 3" x 21" with 36 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing, providing fast-cutting performance and long life needed for aggressive dry sanding applications. It features a closed coat construction for consistent fine finishes and is suitable for producing grain patterns primarily on metal; it is not intended for wet use. The aluminum oxide mineral is widely used in industrial applications for its cut rate, durability, and long life, suitable for woodworking and metalworking on materials including ferrous alloys. The abrasive particles are bonded with resin for high heat and pressure resistance. These abrasive belts come in various widths and lengths to fit numerous belt sanding tools for applications on wood and metal; wider belts are for wide belt sanders to dimension or finish wood panels, smooth metal sheet edges, or add grain patterns to stainless steel, medium-width belts fit edge sanders for flat, narrow surfaces, and narrow belts fit portable belt sanders for sanding or blending wood pieces like cabinet doors. The belts include different splice types: film media splices with a joining film for secure bonds that minimize chatter marks and ensure smooth operation with consistent finishes, and sine wave splices made of interlocking fingers designed to travel smoothly over contact wheels, reduce hinging, and strengthen the joint area.
