The 3M™ cloth belt 341D measures 3" x 21" and features P100 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains that are resin-bonded to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing, providing continuous cut and long-life performance for aggressive dry sanding applications. This belt employs a closed coat construction ideal for finishing metal, producing a consistent fine finish and suitable for grain pattern production, but it should not be used wet. Aluminum oxide is favored for its cut rate, durability, and long life across various materials including woodworking and metalworking with ferrous alloys. The abrasive particles are adhered with resin to withstand high heat and pressure. The belts are available in multiple widths and lengths to fit a range of belt sanding tools, from wide belt sanders used for dimensioning or finishing wood panels and smoothing metal edges to medium-width belts for edge sanders on flat, narrow surfaces and narrow belts for portable belt sanders suited to blending wood pieces such as cabinet doors. The belts include various splices to join ends, such as the film media splice which offers a secure bond and smooth running belt to minimize chatter marks and deliver consistent finishing, and the sine wave splice featuring interlocking fingers that enable smooth travel over contact wheels, reduce hinging, and strengthen the joint area. The product is designed for dry sanding and carries the typical durability and performance specifications associated with 3M abrasives.
