The 3M™ Cloth Belt 341D 2" x 36" 80 Grit Aluminum Oxide features fast-cutting aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable x-weight cotton cloth backing, delivering continuous cut and long-life performance for more aggressive dry sanding applications. Designed for finishing on metal, the closed coat construction provides a consistent, fine finish and is suitable for producing a grain pattern; the belt should not be used wet. Aluminum oxide is widely preferred for its cut rate, durability, and longevity, functioning effectively on diverse materials in woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. The abrasive particles are firmly adhered to the cloth backing with resin, allowing the belt to withstand high heat and pressure. Available in various widths and lengths, these abrasive belts fit numerous belt sanding tools for multiple applications. Wide belts are compatible with wide belt sanders for dimensioning or finishing wood panels, smoothing rough edges on metal sheets, or adding grain patterns to stainless steel. Medium-width belts work with edge sanders for sanding flat, narrow surfaces like panel edges, while narrow belts are suitable for portable belt sanders used for sanding or blending wood pieces such as cabinet doors. The belts come with different splice options, including film media splices, which use a joining film to minimize chatter marks, ensure smooth operation, and produce consistent finishes, and sine wave splices, constructed with interlocking fingers to travel smoothly over contact wheels, reduce hinging, and reinforce the joint for enhanced strength.
