The 3M™ cloth belt 361F, measuring 36" x 75" with 80 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains, is designed for durability and consistent performance in grinding, blending, deburring, and finishing on all metals, including stainless steel. It is particularly suitable for stainless steel coil finishing due to its flexibility, durability, and heat resistance. The belt features fast-cutting aluminum oxide grains bonded to a heavy polyester cloth backing with a durable, heat-resistant resin that supports both wet and dry applications. Grades of P100 and lower use YF-weight polyester backing, while grades higher than P100 use a slightly less stiff XF-weight polyester backing. Aluminum oxide is a widely used industrial abrasive ideal for various materials in woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys, known for its cut-rate, durability, and long life. The abrasive particles are adhered with resin to withstand high heat and pressure. The belts are available in multiple widths and lengths suitable for different belt sanding tools used in metalworking applications. Wide belts fit wide belt sanders for flat finishing and smoothing rough edges or adding grain patterns to metal sheets. Medium-width belts are commonly used on backstand tools for weld removal or on feed-thru style flat finishers for finishing sheets or coils, while narrow belts serve in backstands for grinding and finishing or on file tools for right-angle corner finishing. The coatings are both coated and bonded, with applications primarily in manufacturing.
