The 3M™ cloth belt 341D measures 4" x 80" and features 60 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable x-weight cotton cloth backing, offering continuous cut and long-life performance for more aggressive dry sanding applications. It is designed for finishing on metal with a closed coat construction that provides a consistent, fine finish and is suitable for producing a grain pattern. This belt is intended for dry use only and should not be run wet. Aluminum oxide mineral provides a fast cut rate, durability, and long life, making it suitable for a wide variety of materials including woodworking, metalworking, and ferrous alloys. The resin bond creates a strong attachment to the cloth backing to withstand high heat and pressure. Abrasive belts are available in various widths and lengths to fit different belt sanding tools for diverse applications on wood and metal. Wide belts are used with wide belt sanders for dimensioning or finishing wood panels, smoothing rough metal edges, or adding grain patterns to stainless steel sheets. Medium-width belts are suited for edge sanders to sand flat, narrow surfaces like panel edges, while narrow belts fit portable belt sanders for sanding or blending wood pieces such as cabinet doors. Belt splices include film media splices, which provide a secure bond via a joining film that minimizes chatter marks, ensures smooth running, and produces consistent finishing results, and sine wave splices made of interlocking fingers that allow smooth passage over contact wheels, reduce hinging, and add joint strength.
